USA Hockey Annual Seminars

Annual USA Hockey seminars are fast approaching.  The San Diego Hockey Referee Association will be holding two seminars in August; see below for dates and times.  SDHRA will be hosting both seminars at The Salvation Army Kroc Center in La Mesa.  Classroom session will be held in the multipurpose room at the East end of the facility nearest the Jack In The Box.  Ice Session will be held at the other opposite end of the facility at Kroc Center Ice.

First Year or Second Year Officials:

Must attend the level 1 and 2 seminar on Saturday, August 26th.  Seminar will start at 9:30 am and end at 4:15 pm.

USA Hockey officials registration begins on August 1st.  You must log in and register BEFORE the seminar in order to sign up for your desired seminar. There will also be an online open book test for new officials and an online open book test plus a closed book test at the seminar.  Your rule book will arrive in your mail box with in a few days of registering with USA Hockey.  It is best to complete the open book test before attending the seminar.  OPEN THE RULE BOOK.

USA Hockey also requires officials 18 years or older to have a background check.  After the seminar there are online modules for training as well as a Safe Sport certification.

Please arrive with paper and pencil to take notes as well as full officiating equipment.  If you are a new official and do not have officiating gear please bring skates, helmet (with cage or visor), and shin guards.  Long black pants or sweat pants are recommended and more practical than hockey pants.

Level 2/3 Officials:

Must attend the level 2 and 3 seminar on Sunday, August 27th.  Seminar will start at 12:15 pm (on-ice) and end at 4:30 pm.

This seminar is intended for officials going for their continuing level 2 or 3 certification.  Officials in their second year of officiating must attend the level 1/2 seminar.

USA Hockey officials registration beings on August 1st.  Register online and sign up for your desired seminar before attending.  Beyond the seminar and online open book test, USA Hockey requires officials 18 years or older to have a background check. Also, do not forget about the online modules and Safe Sport certification.

Bring with you paper, pencil, and full officiating gear.
