Mentor Session
Mentoring is the process in which a new or incoming official is able gain experience in a low-pressure situation. The new officials are assigned to a game where a trained official follows and shadows them. The on-ice supervision is able to give instant feedback while in the situation as well as points of improvement and potential areas of concern.
The mentor session is a requirement in becoming an official for SDHRA. After the mentor session, SDHRA has the information needed to place the official in games that are appropriate for their skill level. Please contact Buzzy Twombly

Mentorship
We now offer a mentor to every official. Mentoring is beneficial for new officials as it offers a way to officiate a game with a more experienced official who can provide advice and personal experience on what it was like to start officiating. Officials who decide to take different trajectories in the game, it is very beneficial to be guided by others who have taken the steps and paved the way.
